We live in changed times and if you have listened to the stories that your grandparents told you since you were very young, you will be very aware that things are much different than they were 20 to 30 years ago. It used to be that you could leave the keys in your door when you wanted to pop down to the shops or you could put the back in 10 minutes sign on the door of your business. Back then you knew that everything would be safe and you knew that your neighbours would be looking out for you. That is no longer the case and now there are opportunist thieves everywhere looking for an easy mark. This is why we need to protect ourselves more than ever and there is only so much that an alarm system and a camera system can do for you. If a persistent thief wants to enter your property, then these will not put them off in the slightest.

It is easy to hide your face from a camera and even if an alarm system goes off, many people tend to ignore them and just assume that it is a false alarm. – They have eyes & ears – It doesn’t matter how much money you spend on technological equipment if it is restricted in what it can do. If you look at security cameras for example, there is only so much that they can see and for only so far. It is also very easy for a burglar to cover their faces and so you have no idea who it is that is entering your property. Having a real person doing security is another matter entirely and they can see far and wide and 360° as well. Your security person can detain a trespasser and hold them until the police arrive. You don’t get any of this when you’re relying on security equipment to protect your property.
– All they need is coffee – If you have a full security system installed on your property then what do you do when the power fails. You might have backup power that only lasts for an additional limited amount of time and then you lose all of your security features. A professional burglar also knows how to cut the power to your business and so this means everything that you have installed has become pointless. Having a security person however is completely different and they are active for the whole time that they are there if there is electricity or not. They will have a torch on hand and all you need to do is to supply them with coffee or tea to keep them alert and they will do their job better than anything.
We seem to forget that real people can provide us with real security and we need to reduce our reliance on technology when it comes to protecting our businesses and our homes.
